Does Radiant Barrier really work?
Yes, Radiant barriers work by reducing heat transfer by thermal radiation across the air space between the roof deck and the attic floor, where conventional insulation is usually placed. Radiant barriers are materials that are installed in buildings to reduce summer heat gain and winter heat loss, and hence to reduce building heating and cooling energy usage. The potential benefit of attic radiant barriers is primarily in reducing air-conditioning cooling loads in warm or hot climates.

What does Bonded and Insured mean?
Being bonded means that a bonding company has secured money that is available to the consumer in the event they file a claim against the company. The secured money is in the control of the state, a bond, and not under the control of the company. If the company is insured, and a roofer falls, then the claim gets filed against the roofing company’s insurance verses your homeowners insurance.

Should I use valley metal in the valley's of my roof?
This process should be evaluated closely as it will depend on the geographic area. Valleys often allow water build up causing leaks in areas where the precipitation includes snow and ice. Texas generally does not have this problem but it stands to reason over long periods of time water can cause damaging leaks. Added protection is recommended.

Is there a benefit to 30 year shingles?
Thirty years shingles will not last 30 years in the Texas heat although they should definitely be considered when replacing your existing roof. The 30 year shingles are made to withstand higher winds (higher wind rating) and will provide a greater curb appeal from the standard 20 year shingles. We have found over the years that this low cost upgrade does help in the resale of an existing property. Please ask your sales representative for pricing on the 30 year option as well as the various shingle colors.

Are nails or staples best for roof construction?
